Overview With this private full-day tour, we explore the magnificent Lake Kariba. One of the largest man-made lakes in Africa and located only a 3-hour drive south of Lusaka using a scenic route that takes us through rustic hilly countryside. Over the years since the dam was built, life has rearranged itself around the new lake shorelines. Let us discover not only the engineering wonders of the dam, but also the nature, wildlife and human aspect of this understated destination. Highlights Our Lake Kariba day trip from Lusaka will show us different aspects of the lake and Siavonga town.......it's massive dam wall, it's fish markets, it's fish farms. One part of this tour that I especially enjoy is going off-road for a few kilometres to a remote beach where we will have lunch. The route takes us through villages that are unchanged for many decades now, rural communities going about their daily grind, and interesting landscapes including fantastic baobab trees. We wind up our lake visit with a boat cruise as we explore the lake and its islands, and marvel at changes in water level according to the season. We return to Lusaka in the early evening. Itinerary 07.30 I collect you from your lodgings in Lusaka or another agreed location 10.30 We arrive at the lake and begin our tour. We tour the dam wall, have lunch on the beach, tour the town, and have an afternoon boat cruise. 15.30 After the boat cruise and a short rest, we depart for Lusaka. 18.30 We arrive back in Lusaka for drop-offs and the end of the tour.
