Overview This affordable getaway allows you to take some time out of the city to unwind. Experience these 2 destinations....on one hand discover the wonders of the Zambezi River....its sandbanks, waterways, nature and wildlife. On the other hand discover the beauty of Lake Kariba....its islands, shorelines, and flurry of human activity in the small town of Siavonga and the fishing villages. All in all, time well spent at both places. Highlights We will visit Chiawa area of Lower Zambezi, where our main activity will be a half day river safari with lunch on an island or sandbank. At Lake Kariba, our main activities will be a tour of the dam and a sunset cocktail cruise on the lake. Itinerary Day 1 07.30 Lusaka to Chiawa area of Lower Zambezi (3-hour drive) 10.30 Only a 3-hour easy going drive from Lusaka, we arrive at our base. 11.30 After a short break, we begin our highlight activity of the day which is a half day river safari on the Zambezi River with a picnic lunch on an island or sandbank. 16.30 We return to the lodge for an overnight stay. Day 2 - Lower Zambezi to Lake Kariba (2 hours) After a 2-hour leisurely drive, upon arrival at Lake Kariba, our first activity will be a tour of the dam. We will then have lunch at a lakeside restaurant before ending the day with a sunset cocktail boat cruise on the lake. Day 3 - Lake Kariba to Lusaka (3-hour drive) We leave early morning and arrive back in Lusaka around mid-day for drop offs and end of tour.
